Curved Stair Lift

Curved Stair Lifts

The prices of stair lifts have gone down in the past five years quite a lot and today you can find models that are quite quick and easy to use. There are also curved stair lifts so they can be basically used in every situation.

Normally people use these machines when they are handicapped, disabled or just too old to have the strength to climb up those stairs many times a day. I remember the movies where there was an old stair lift that took ten minutes to go up to the second floor - today this is history and it is not going to take so long. In fact they are quite a swift way to move up and down the house - not as fast as young people walking the stairs but still quite a lot faster than it would take for older people to climb up.

These are also called residential elevators for the fact that you can get them almost in every house that has chairs, and they work the same as an elevator. For houses with curved stairs, there are curved stair lifts that need a bit mode planning to be installed than the straight stair lifts, because you will have to take in to notice two things instead of jus one. Normally curved stairs don't have a wall next to them so these lifts are mounted on the hand-rail that is usually enforced to make it more stabile.

There is a possiblity thay you can get your healthcare insurance to cover a lift for you, but you should not count on it - today the insurance companies are very strict about the things and equipment they will cover - even so you should spend a little time to find a good model for you because it is going to be in daily use, and if you decide to go cheap you might end up suffering from it every day. Go for a used curved stair lift that is of a high quality, and you can be sure that it is still working after a while.

If you have just small stairs in your home you don't necessarily need a lift there in the first place, but you could get away with just a wheelchair ramp. If you have one of those houses that has the first floor in two levels that are separated just by a few steps, it might be a great idea to set a ramp that is covering those stairs, and use it as a permanent solution.
